Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in America. Ashford is an actor, singer and dancer. In her early Broadway roles, she played in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. In her performance as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she won the Tony Award. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director, has spent the majority of her career working alongside well-known directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford can be seen next as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani, on Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It will premiere on 22nd November. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust alongside Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. The film is it is a Hulu Original, the film will be available on Disney DTC's platform. Ashford's Broadway return will take place on March 20, 2023. He stars opposite Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will be the creative team for the musical. Ashford has most recently played Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment that is based upon the national crisis that swept up Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters in the country's first impeachment proceedings in over 100 years. She was the star of two seasons of CBS comedy B Positive. It was developed by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre it also featured legendary performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No no stranger to Broadway Ashford has won Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the character that was originally played by Lauren of Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway roles. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and currently splits the time in Los Angeles, and New York.
